How does the general public perceive students?

The general public does not perceive students favorably, when SNAP is concerned: most of the time I have heard comments like:

"Students are full of money. They receive financial aid, and they drive fast, expensive sports cars. Their parents pay for their schooling, and they just full around while they are in school....Why would we have to pay for their food?!? They should not receive food stamps on top of what they already have...."

Another comment that I have heard is:

" I worked full time when I was a student. I pulled myself by my boot straps and made it. I have never applied for food stamps, even if I had to go hungry for the day."
